OPINION VIDEO: "Social media is making us unsocial" 🙈🙉🙊

Hello! 👋👀Surely you have often thought about how social networks today have altered our way of relating to others. Thanks to a video from the TEDx Talks channel called "Social media is making us unsocial" we have been able to form our own opinion about this topic. 😁

It cannot be denied that social networks today give us multiple opportunities to meet new people, access numerous jobs or to obtain information of any kind in a short time. However, it is true that as the presenter says in the video; Many times we prefer to connect online over a real relationship. 👥

We spend many hours a day looking at our social networks and we miss out on having unique experiences with our loved ones. The video discusses the term "slacktivism" which explains that we often care more about how others perceive our experiences than actually caring about them. This is due to our need to connect positively with other people which determines our state of happiness.

On the other hand, we are constantly bombarded 💣 by advertisements whose intention is to capture our attention and hook us to spend long hours in front of a screen and increase consumerism of things that in most cases we do not need. WE ARE BUILDING OUR OWN MATRIX!!! 😱😱😱

Therefore, in the video she gives us a series of tips to reduce our addiction to social networks:

-Turn off notifications.

-Delete our social networks.

-Educate others and help children understand how to manage their social media use and build real, healthy relationships.

Leaving our comfort zone and feeling that we are "disconnected" from the world can worsen our mood for a while and generate anxiety, but the long-term benefits will allow us to improve our relationships with others and make the most of our time in a better productive way.
